Projected capacitive touch screens are commonly used for smartphones and tablet PCs. If you have a smartphone, you know how comfortable its light-touch operation is in such operations as flicking and zooming. DMC has such projected capacitive touch screens in medium- and large-sizes ready for industrial use. It makes it possible to perform more accurate multi-touch operations and broaden the operational range. Furthermore, the projected capacitive type is the most popular touch screen not only because of its operability, but also its excellent durability, toughness, appearance and design.

  • Operation principle

    Electrodes are formed in matrix state, neighboring electrodes are coupled capacitively. As any conductive substance, such as a finger, comes close to the electrodes, capacitive coupling occurs. The screen detects the area whose capacitive coupling value changes as the location of a touch.

  • Glass/ Glass Type (Characteristics)

    Features double-layer glass and a capacitive touch screen that applies ITO as electrodes. Glass ensures highly transparent and clear visibility. Glass is excellent in durability and weather resistance, which makes this touch screen ideal for a long-term use.

  • Glass/ Glass Type (Drawing of Structure)

    The X and Y electrodes are coated and placed on the opposite side of a glass sheet, and glass is attached in such a way that electrodes are facing each other. Complete attachment of glass ensures highly transparent and clear visibility, and realizes high-durability.

  • Film/ Film Type (Characteristics)

    Features double-layer Films and a capacitive touch screen that applies ITO as electrodes. Thin and lightweight compared to glass structure, ideal for carrying or handy equipment.

Customization

POINT
Developing our own controllers enables us to customize controller FW to satisfy customer preference and optimize for specific use environments. Our wide range of available customization includes noise filtering for use in high noise environments, touch points for use by multiple users, sensitivity adjustment for gloved-hand operations, a palm rejection function for use with stylus pens, and protection against malfunctions caused by water.
  • Noise Filtering Function

    Because capacitive touch screens detect capacitance changes on the screen, they are influenced by noise from the surrounding environment. DMC provides FW noise filter adjustment services in accordance with the noise environment for factories, etc.

  • Adjusting the number of touch points

    The DUS controller handles up to 10 points, including one-touch operation, double-finger zooming, rotating operations, and simultaneous operations by multiple users. It can handle gesture operations such as flicking and zooming, and the number of touch points can be set according to purpose.

  • Sensitivity adjustment for gloved-hand operations

    DMC satisfies customer needs by offering Cover-Glass thicknesses as well as material characteristics and specifications to optimize sensitivity for the environment. Sensitive adjustment allows users to perform touch operations with gloves.

  • Palm rejection function

    The palm rejection function allows users to place their palm on the screen without interfering with operations while using a stylus pen.

Cover-Glass

POINT
Capacitive touch screens are clean, highly light transmittant, highly visible, and realize high quality image display, which make them ideal for a wide range of use environments.. To ensure durability for use by the general public in both commercial and industrial environments, workplaces exposed to direct sunlight, and situations where dust, impact, and water are factors, capacitive touch screen must also meet more exacting standards. Cover-Glasses prevent deterioration of screen appearance due to scratches and dust, and improve weather resistance, cleanability, and cleanliness.

MATERIAL
  • 01Acrylic

    Weighing half of what glass does, acrylic is durable and flexible, has high transmittance, and can be cut and drilled.

  • 02Glass

    Glass is less expensive, highly scratch-resistant and is durable. Thicknesses of up to 5mm can be applied.

  • 03Tempered glass

    Tempered glass is three to five times stronger than standard glass, is stronger against scratches, and it offers the highest durability among all clear materials.

Film

POINT
Capacitive touch screens are often used for a long period of time outdoor or under direct sunlight for industrial equipment and commercial purposes due to the materials, characteristics, and usage. To prevent the deterioration of appearance caused by scratches and dust on the surface of touch screens under such circumstances, it is recommended the use of protection films.
  • Anti-reflection Film

    Anti-reflection film reduces glare from room- or sunlight, making it ideal for improving screen visibility in environments where such light is unavoidable. The film is coated with material that inverts the phase of exposure light. Reflected light and interfering opposite waves cancel each other out to reduce reflection.

  • Without anti-fingerprint film

    Data input on touch screens can cause deterioration of visibility and appearance due to fingerprints. Application of anti-fingerprint film makes fingerprints less visible and easier to clean off. Ideal for manufacturing sites exposed to oil, and at hospitals and restaurants where hygiene is critical.

  • Without privacy film

    ATMs and other terminals require users to enter personal information or passwords. Privacy film protects against peeking at such information by making the screen visible only when viewed from directly in front.

  • Anti-bacterial Film

    Anti-bacterial film suppresses bacterial growth on the film surface (excluding mold). Ideal for food processing factories handling raw meat and fish, and hospitals and restaurants, where hygiene is critical. The anti-bacterial film has excellent surface hardness and abrasion-resistance against steel wool. It can be applied to any environment and has even anti-bacterial effects on the surface, unlike photocatalyst systems and the agents mixed with anti-bacterial materials.

Hard Coating

POINT
Most touch screens can be customized for the use under individual environments with different requirements through surface processing. We offer ideal customization to prevent fingerprints and glare for workplaces such as medical care sites where mistakes are unacceptable.
  • Anti-glare hard coating

    Anti-glare hard coating diffuses and reduces room and sunlight glare on the touch screen. This hard coating improves visibility under sunlight. Creating irregularities on the surface of touch screens and Cover-Glasses diffuses room and sunlight to reduce glare.

  • Touch screen and liquid crystal sets

    We offer LCD, touch screen, and controller sets as well as semi-customization for bonding. DMC provides high-quality factory-made LCD modules with touch screens.

  • Choice of liquid crystal displays

    We respond to requests for the bonding of DMC touch screens to a wide range of small to large liquid crystal displays from different manufacturers. We are also happy to accept liquid crystal displays provided by the customer.

AIR BONDING

  • What is air bonding?

    When bonding clear screens or touch screens to liquid crystal displays, a small space is created between the modules. Air bonding technology bonds the two units with double-sided tape to prevent dust and moisture from entering.

  • Ease of implementation

    Although the bonding of touch screen to a liquid crystal display with double-sided tape is a routine procedure, it must be done in a clean room to provide anti-bacterial treatment and prevent dirt and dust.

  • Cost performance

    Air bonding is a simple and cost-effective process using equipment to bond the touch screen to the liquid crystal with double-sided tape. Small-lot production in a clean room does not require equipment for processing.

OPTICAL BONDING

  • What is optical bonding?

    Optical bonding is applied to fill the small gaps between the touch screen and liquid crystal module on the display, or liquid crystal module and clear screen using resin (optical elasticity resin).

  • Clear display

    Bonding of a clear screen to a liquid crystal module minimizes the light refractive index to maintain high visibility. It is ideal for images that must be especially bright and information displays in disorderly or bright sites.

  • Reducing reflection

    Bonding of a clear screen to a liquid crystal display with resin reduces the light refractive index generated when the air space and screen are permeated, and prevents reflection on the screen.

  • Increasing durability

    Inserting optical elasticity resin into the air space increases the physical strength of the display surface. Having no gap between liquid crystal display and touch screen prevents damage from foreign matter such as dust and moisture. It is ideal for FA and equipment used by general public.

  • Preventing condensation

    Moisture in the space between liquid crystal and touch screen may cause condensation in environment that experience wide changes in temperature. Filing the air space with resin prevents condensation to ensure good visibility. It is ideal for use in environments that have significant changes in air pressure such as transport vehicles, aircraft, storage spaces, and laboratories.

  • Improved input precision

    The thickness of the touch screen may cause parallax between images on the screen and the actual touch points, which can result in gaps when entering data with the touch pen. Optical bonding allows users to easily confirm and match the touch point with the image, which supports natural touch entry regardless of parallax.

Implementation Procedures

Resistive touch screens are highly versatile and relatively easy to implement.
