Analog Resistive
Multi-touch Type


This touch screen realizes resistive type multi-touch functions broadly applied for industrial purposes such as factory automation. With resistive type characteristics such as stability, location accuracy, and ease of implementation, this type is capable of gesture operations such as simultaneous input at multiple points and pinching. It also has a highly-durable structure, and operation is guaranteed up to as many as 10 million touches.

  • Operation principle

    Transparent film and glass substrate containing ITO electrodes are attached in such a way that electrodes face each other. With this double-layer structure, pressing the screen bends the upper substrate, and conduct upper and lower ITO electrodes to detect the input.

  • Film/ Glass structure

    This touch screen comprises film for the upper electrode and glass for lower electrode. The upper film is physically pressed and connects to the lower glass to detect the input. Information can be input not only by finger, but also by pen and gloved-hand.

    DMC added a multi-touch function to a resistive type touch screen. DMC divided the highly durable resistive type screen into cells to add a multi-touch function. This type of screen can be operated with any data input tool.

Film

POINT
Due to their outstanding durability and stability, our resistive touch screens are often employed for long-term use in industrial and other rough environments. In addition, there is no limitation to input method. We offer protective touch screen films to prevent scratches, buildup of dirt, and deterioration of appearance under severe use conditions. It is recommended that the protective film be replaced periodically to maintain the appearance of the touch screen clean. The protective film is self-adhesive and easy to replace by the user.

  • Overlay Film

    Our design-printed overlay film for touch screens allows the easy creation of bezel-less and stylish flat interface designs. It also prevents bezel grooves from collecting dirt.

  • Anti-reflection Film

    To improve touch screen visibility under strong room or sunlight, we customize anti-reflection measures, including application of anti-glare hard coating on ITO film, or application of add-on type anti-reflection film.

  • Privacy Film

    ATMs and other terminals require users to enter personal information or passwords. Privacy film protects against peeking at such information by making the screen visible only when viewed from directly in front.

  • Anti-bacterial Film

    Hospitals and restaurants must comply with strict hygiene standards, and food processors must have anti-bacterial measures in place. DMC offers anti-bacterial film that suppresses virus and bacteria growth on the film surface to keep the touch screen clean.

  • EMI Shield Film

    Precision medical, marine, and aircraft devices face the risk of malfunction caused by electromagnetic waves emitted from PCs and LCDs. EMI shield film reduces electromagnetic waves emitted from LCD.

Hard Coating

POINT
Most touch screens can be customized for the use under individual environments with different requirements through surface processing. We offer ideal customization to prevent fingerprints and glare for workplaces such as medical care sites where mistakes are unacceptable.

  • With fingerprint-resistant hard coating

    Fingerprints on touch screens cause deterioration of visibility and appearance. Fingerprint-resistant processing makes fingerprints less distinctive and easy to wipe off. This fingerprint-resistant hard coating is perfect for manufacturing, food processing, hospitals and restaurants that need to keep the appearance clean.

  • Anti-glare hard coating

    Anti-glare hard coating diffuses and reduces room and sunlight glare on the touch screen. This hard coating improves visibility under sunlight. Creating irregularities on the surface of touch screens and Cover-Glasses diffuses room and sunlight to reduce glare.

  • Clear hard coating

    Clear hard coating ensures high-quality product images with glossiness, transparency, and clearness. The clean, glossy screen is perfect for terminals at hospitals, restaurants and other environments that must comply with strict hygiene standards. The coating also effectively increases surface hardness to prevent scratches.

  • ANR coating

    Anti-Newton's ring (ANR) coating prevents deterioration of appearance that may often occur on resistive touch screens. Newton's ring is not a problem with touch screens employed as regular input terminals; however, when prioritizing the appearance or color distinction, anti-Newton's ring coating is the best solution.

  • What is Newton's ring?

    As reflected light on the ITO side of the top film and bottom glass interfere with each other, a rainbow-colored interference pattern (Newton's ring) occurs on analog resistive touch screens. It seldom occurs under natural or incandescent light, but occurs frequently under fluorescent lighting (especially 3-wavelength fluorescent lighting).

AIR BONDING

  • What is air bonding?

    When bonding clear screens or touch screens to liquid crystal displays, a small space is created between the modules. Air bonding technology bonds the two units with double-sided tape to prevent dust and moisture from entering.

  • Ease of implementation

    Although the bonding of touch screen to a liquid crystal display with double-sided tape is a routine procedure, it must be done in a clean room to provide anti-bacterial treatment and prevent dirt and dust.

  • Cost performance

    Air bonding is a simple and cost-effective process using equipment to bond the touch screen to the liquid crystal with double-sided tape. Small-lot production in a clean room does not require equipment for processing.

  • What is optical bonding?

    Optical bonding is applied to fill the small gaps between the touch screen and liquid crystal module on the display, or liquid crystal module and clear screen using resin (optical elasticity resin).

  • Clear display

    Bonding of a clear screen to a liquid crystal module minimizes the light refractive index to maintain high visibility. It is ideal for images that must be especially bright and information displays in disorderly or bright sites.

  • Reducing reflection

    Bonding of a clear screen to a liquid crystal display with resin reduces the light refractive index generated when the air space and screen are permeated, and prevents reflection on the screen.

  • Increasing durability

    Inserting optical elasticity resin into the air space increases the physical strength of the display surface. Having no gap between liquid crystal display and touch screen prevents damage from foreign matter such as dust and moisture. It is ideal for FA and equipment used by general public.

  • Preventing condensation

    Moisture in the space between liquid crystal and touch screen may cause condensation in environment that experience wide changes in temperature. Filing the air space with resin prevents condensation to ensure good visibility. It is ideal for use in environments that have significant changes in air pressure such as transport vehicles, aircraft, storage spaces, and laboratories.

  • Improved input precision

    The thickness of the touch screen may cause parallax between images on the screen and the actual touch points, which can result in gaps when entering data with the touch pen. Optical bonding allows users to easily confirm and match the touch point with the image, which supports natural touch entry regardless of parallax.

Implementation Procedures

Resistive touch screens are highly versatile and relatively easy to implement.
