TOUCHSCREEN FILM
Anti-Newton Ring Film
Prevents the loss of appearance due to Newton rings (interference fringes).
Anti-Newton ring film is a type of film that can help prevent the appearance of Newton rings (interference fringes) on touchscreens.
FEATURE

Feature of Anti-Newton-Ring Film

  • Reduce the occurrence of Newton rings due to air gaps
  • Reduce the occurrence of Newton rings due to air gaps

In resistive touchscreens, rainbow-colored stripe patterns (Newton rings) are generated when reflected light from the ITO surface of the upper film interferes with reflected light from the ITO surface of the lower glass. It rarely occurs in natural light outdoors or under incandescent lamps, etc., but is mainly visible under fluorescent lamps (especially three-wavelength fluorescent lamps).

  • What are Newton ring interference fringes?
  • What are Newton ring interference fringes?

A resistive touchscreen is a resistive touchscreen in which upper and lower ITO-coated films or glasses are placed opposite each other to create a gap between them to detect and locate the contact between the electrodes due to pressure. The light reflected from the pressure-curved upper and lower planes interfere with each other in the air gap between them, resulting in the display of round interference fringes.

  • 反射光を拡散・発生を抑えチラツキを抑制
  • Diffuse the reflected light. Reduces generation and suppresses flickering

The ITO transparent conductive film is treated with an uneven rough surface to prevent it from aligning with the optical axis, suppressing Newton rings and diffusing reflected light. By optimizing the rough surface shape, the anti-Newton Ring (ANR) characteristics are reduced and flicker is controlled at the same time.

USE CASE

Examples of Utilization

  • Ensuring visibility outdoors is a must
    Category Cases
Products used 9.4-inch 4-wire resistive system
    Anti-Newton ring film
    Recruitment Industry Office Equipment
    Uses OHP Conference System
    Scene Pen operation
  • Background

OHP conferencing system to project images at meetings and present them to the audience. A 4-wire resistive touchscreen, which requires pen input and does not depend on the object of operation, was selected.

  • Adopt Content

The dot spacers are smaller than the standard ones to facilitate smooth pen input. However, there was a concern that the smaller dot spacer would reduce the distance between the upper ITO film and the lower ITO glass, causing interference fringes (Newton rings) due to the fluorescent lights in the conference room, so a change to a film with an anti-Newton ring film function was made.

RECOMMEND

Ideal for Places Like This

  • For resistive touch panels used universally in industry

We would like to consider introducing resistive terminals for use in on-site equipment and devices.

  • Retrofit to equipment and devices used in the medical field.

I want to increase the functionality by attaching it to a touchscreen that is in operation on site.

  • For touchscreen devices used indoors and outdoors

For public touch panels used by everyone, such as libraries, government offices, civic centers, daycare centers, etc.
